American Soldier

Image
A. I think this is the most powerful image, because the look in his eyes show an emotion which not a lot of pictures do. It looks like his eyes show that he is terrified and sad that he is leaving his family behind and putting himself in danger to protect his country. I also think it is powerful because he is sitting down as the clock is ticking, which shows suspense because you don't know what is happening.   B. The images work together to tell a story, by putting them in chronological order so that the viewer can see how the process of joining the army works. Under the picture, it also gives you a description of what is happening every step of the way. C. The captions enhance the pictures, by describing the event you see in the picture. It also gives you background information that you would not be able to get by just looking at the picture. D. Within 2 days of Fisher enlisting, he regrets doing it and he sees a chance to escape enlistment. One week before he leaves for

Sammy Poole is outside of a instrument  store playing his instrument as beautifully as he can. The only thing is that he doesn't even know how to play it. Mary Cray is at the mall sitting in the Out of Control area. What she doesn't know is that she has been there ever since she was born, because her mom couldn't control her. Grandma Patty is at her local beauty pageant in New York. She forgot she is supposed to be volunteering, but instead she is participating and she crowned herself.

Abandoned Theme Parks

1) The park I would like to visit with my camera is Holy Land in Connecticut, because the picture of the site looks really interesting. I also would want to go there, because I was intrigued by how an amusement park is a version of Jerusalem. The site doesn't really look an amusement park, which is why I would want to go see what is left of it and how it looks in real life. 3) The 5 other unusual place photographers would be interest in are an undeserted island, the graffiti wall in downtown Austin, Altitude Trampoline Park, any place downtown, and a cemetery. 4) 5) I think it would be very interesting to document there, because of the variety/diversity that the different walls have. All of the art is very cool and it would be fun to explore the different art that takes place there. Something that interest me of the place is how cool the whole thing looks together, because it isn't ordinary. The pictures I would expect to take there are really diverse and unique photo

Mural Project Preview

1) One idea I have for the project are taking pictures of any kind of food (candy, fruit, etc) and putting them in a order where they look colorful. Another idea I have is for us to do is take pictures of anything related to a holiday. For example a pumpkin that represents Halloween or a stocking representing Christmas. My last idea was to shoot objects that are the same color. For example, just focus on objects that are red and organize it so it looks cool. 2)When shooting in Manual, you have to make sure that the subject is in focus and not blurry. Another thing you have to keep in mind is the angle, because you don't want it to be sideway. The last thing you have to keep in mind is getting good exposure. You don't want to have too bright or dark lighting, so you have to make sure your ISO is accurate depending on where you are. 3) One way to get these online is to use your SD card to download them on your desktop and from there put them on instagram or facebook. Another

Great White and Black Photographers Part 3

1) The first thing that caught my eye when I saw Hine's picture (on the left) was how the kid is working with machinery, which now a days kids don't work. The first thing that caught my eye when I sew Hine's picture (on the right) was how the background is out of focus and it shows simplicity. The thing that made me choose the pictures was how the subject of both of the pictures were unaware that the photographer was taking the picture. 2) Picture on the left: I see the young kid working with heavy machinery. I see the sweat in his hair and drops of sweat slowly falling from his forehead to his cheeks. I see his eyes focused on his job and I see the hardworking side of him. I smell the machines aroma.  I smell my own   odor and I know I haven't showered in weeks, due to no working water. I smell the gas molecules that spread around the factory, because of the machines. I hear the loud and annoying sound that the machine makes. I hear  my own heavy sighs as

Africa Assignment

1) When I read what he wrote, I felt inspired to do get out of my comfort zone. Reading about the persistence he had made me want to take dares and do things differently, when it comes to taking pictures. When I went through his pictures, I was fascinated, because he captured them in a way no would else could imagine. I was intrigued by how all of his subjects were very clear and they were all in focus. 2) 3) This picture is my favorite, because I love how the farther the elephant is, the smaller it looks. He took it from an angle where he could show that they form a line. I also like how it shows that the other elephants are following the very first one. 4) One rule of photography that is evident is Simplicity and Lines. This photo clearly shows Simplicity, because the background is very simple and clear. It also doesn't take any focus/attention out of the main subject: the elephants. This photo also shows Lines, because the elephants form a line (all the wa

Quick Warm Up

1) The emotions I felt as I worked my way through was happiness at first, because they seemed really happy and it was genuine. When I started getting towards the end, she got sick and then she died, which made me sad. 2) I think this comment means that the pictures represent them, but they don't show who they really are. 3) I think that if I were in this situation it would be really hard for me to capture these moments, but I would want to capture them. The reason I would want to capture them is because I would want to be able to look back on them and forever have the memories. 4) If I could write Angelo a letter I would tell him that I know how hard it is to have a loved one go through cancer. I would tell him that my grandma went through it and unfortunately, she died of cancer too. I would tell him that I know how much it hurts to accept the fact that they may be gone any minute. Finally, I would tell him that he was very strong in taking these deep pictures and I would send

Three Pillars of Photography

1. The aperture settings available on the camera is the scale of how fast you want to take a picture. 2. The shutter speed settings available are the 3 different modes of shutter speed, which are Manuel mode, Shutter Priority, and Aperture Priority. 3. The ISO settings available on this camera is the scale that shows the highest and lowest number of it, based on how much exposure you want.
