Blog #3- My Favorite Cover
1. My favorite portrait would be Flight Risk
2. "For this cover story on the U.S. women’s ski-jumping team, we featured the Olympic hopeful Sarah Hendrickson as photographed by Martin Schoeller. Schoeller captures the competitive spirit of Hendrickson, who wears her competition gear, in her body posture and intense gaze."
3. In this portrait what is communicated is her competitive side and her seriousness about what she does (she takes it seriously). She shows her competitive side by having a steady face and having her gear on. Her competitive side is shown through her facial expressions. I think the lighting is really good, it isn't too dark or too bright. I think this magazine cover is appealing, because she has her gear on, which makes you want to look at it very carefully. The only thing I would be concern about would be how her helmet covers part of the Magazine Name (The New York Times). They could've avoided that merger by scooting her to the left (her left), so the Magazine name coud've been fully showed.
