Self-portraits vs. Selfie
PART 1:
A selfie is a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically taken on a smartphone and shared via social media. A self-portrait is a representation of an artist that is drawn, painted, photographed, or sculptured by that artist. Yes, there is a difference between selfie and self-portrait. One thing that makes them different is the difference of the story they "tell". Selfies just show how pretty they are, and self-portraits show a deeper meaning of who they are. The style I prefer is selfie, because they are much easier to take so you can take as many as you want. I don't think that one is more valuable than the other, I think they are both equally important. They are both equally important, because they both show your unique features.
PART 2:
I chose to research about the Petapixel website. The intention of this website is to inform the readers about different kind of information that is related to photography. For example, they have stories about who created the selfie and how they came upon it. They also have tips on how to get your pictures and when to use a tripod. They also have many stories featured within the post. One really important tip/story they have is how to get a good picture when there is bad lighting. Most of the website have stories that contain information about how to use a camera in the best way. An average viewer can get information about the origin of the selfie and information about camera lenses. Personally, I don't think I would add this to my bookmark, because I don't think it contains information I would need or want. I think I would recommend this website to people who are interested in learning more about the things that revolve around photography. On a scale from 1-5, I would give it a 3, because it does have interesting information and tips on getting the pictures you want, but it also has things that are unnecessary.
This was one of my favorite pictures that was in the website, because I think its really cool how she blends in with the background. I really liked how this technique looks, because it looks like its just a head floating around. I have never seen something like this, so I really liked how it was shown. Another reason why it was one of my favorite pictures is because it looks like such a complex photo, but it truly is just simple. In the left you can clearly see that the photographer used Rule of Thirds, because of his placement. I chose to share this in the blog, so other people can see that creativity can be very useful at times. I also shared this, because I really liked it and I wanted to make sure more people see how far photos can go. This was a very informative website that can be very useful.
